Industrial development plays an important role in the development of the country. To Provide the requisite quality & quantity of trained manpower at different level, Govt. of India set up the National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology (NIFFT) in the year 1966 in collaboration with UNDP-USESCO. NIFFT is registered as Society under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. The management of the Institute is vested with Board of Governors with Chairman at its apex and members representing Govt. of India (Ministry of HRD & industry), AICTE, Private and Public enterprises, technical and R & D organizations. Recently, the institute changed its name to National Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (NIAMT). During the last five-six decades NIAMT (formerly NIFFT) has earned a reputation as a leading institute for teaching, training, research & development, consultancy and documentation and information retrieval services in manufacturing technology and related areas of academic and industrial interest. With the globalization of the market, competitiveness in industries has increased tremendously. The VISION Statement of the Institute is: Accomplishing excellence in the technical education and act as repository and leader for disseminating state-of-the art knowledge and expertise in the field.
The Institute has been under administrative control of the Ministry of Education, Government of India and is being fully funded by it. The Institute has recently received a Letter of Intent from the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India for conferment of the Deemed to be University status under the Distinct Category.

Pay Level
Assistant Professor: Academic Pay level-13 as per 7th Central Pay Commission- For M.Tech/M.Phil- 61,200/- (Initial Basic Pay)
- For PhD Candidate- 66,800/- (Initial Basic Pay)
Academic Qualification
Computer Engineering Discipline: (Any one of the following alternatives:)- B. E. / B. Tech. / B. S. in Computer Engineering or Computer Science and Engineering and M. E./ M. Tech./ M. S. in Computer Engineering or Computer Science and Engineering with first class or equivalent division in any one of the degrees,
- Integrated M. Tech. in Computer Engineering or Computer Science and Engineering with first class or equivalent division.
- MCA with Ph. D in Computer Engineering or Computer Science & Engineering.
- Candidates who have done Ph. D in Computer Engineering or Computer Science and Engineering from Institution cf National Importance after B. E. / B. Tech. /
- B. S. in Computer Science and Engineering with first class or equivalent division and qualified in GATE shall be eligible. M. E. / M. Tech. / M. S. is not required for such candidates.
- A Ph. D degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science and Engineering obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one cf the following:
- Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)
- The Times Higher Education (THE),
- The Academic flanking of World Universities (AftWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Sanghai).
