Role and Responsibility
- The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be joining the Centre for Preventive Neurology (CPN) to work on the international Global Parkinson’s Genetics Program (GP2; https://gp2.org/), funded by the Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s initiative and The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
- Specifically, the post holder will join the ‘early/at-risk’ theme of GP2, focused on understanding the genetic basis of prodromal Parkinson’s disease (PD) on a global scale. This includes identifying cohorts of patients with REM sleep behaviour disorder, hyposmia, and carriers of monogenic causes of PD, liaising with the principal investigators and ultimately bringing the data into GP2.

Qualification and Pay Matrix
Academic Qualification
- PhD in neuroscience, genetics, data science or equivalent
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant subject
Experience/Knowledge
- Research experience and interest in the genetic basis of neurological disease.
- Proven abilty to write papers and scientific reports.
- Experience preparing (acquiring, cleaning and harmonising) clinical and genetic data for analysis.
- Experience writing and annotating code, and sharing code in public repositories.
- Exerience with analyses such GWAS, LD score regression, colocalization, burden analysis, Mendelian randomisation
- Experience of wider research activities, including visualisation and display of data, literature reviews, variant look-up, etc
- Experience of working collaboratively with other researchers.
- Knowledge of genetics, Parkinson’s disease and related disorders
Pay Matrix:
The post is based in Charterhouse Square. It is full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 24 months. The salary will be Grade 4/5 in the range of £38,165 – £49,785 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
